The Coming of Amos (1925)
Rod La Rocque acted in light
comedies for Essanay in Chicago at the
beginning of his career. By the 1920s he was a
star, here playing an Australian sheep rancher
who comes to the Riviera, and falls for a
Russian emigre countess (Jetta Goudal). The
villain (Noah Beery) kidnaps her, and Rod
attempts to rescue her.

Presented
by the Art Deco Society of California
Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate
2960 Peralta Oaks Ct, Oakland, CA 94605

Join several hundred aficionados of the 1920s and
1930s as they step back to a time when elegance
was a way of life. At the Gatsby Summer Afternoon,
the panoramic front lawn of the historic Dunsmuir
Hellman House becomes the stage on which every
participant dresses in vintage day wear styles of
the era. They play, picnic, sip champagne, and
dance; the Charleston and Fox Trot is all the
rage. It is reminiscent of a scene from the famous
1925 novel - The Great Gatsby by F. Scott
Fitzgerald.
